is devoted to preserving and defending freedom and fostering the spread of freedom by
bringing clarity, acuity and veracity to vital issues and events at home and around
the mission of Spread Freedom Institute, it is our mission to provide fresh,
rational, insightful, principle-centered and uncommonly intelligent ideas,
perspectives, commentaries and analysis on a broad spectrum of timely and timeless
political and social issues for the edification of concerned citizens, opinion leaders,
policy makers and all who share our goal of a better world.
We take upon
ourselves, to the degree our resources will allow, the daunting task of
countering the mendacity of the frequently biased and intentionally distorted coverage
of much of the mass media. We will highlight stories we consider important or relevant
that may have been ignored, buried, glossed over or underplayed. We will attempt to
balance or to rectify stories that have been distorted or received a one-sided treatment
by the networks and the mainstream press. And we will provide in-depth, thoroughly
researched reportage on selected critical subjects that we feel have been inadequately or
Believing that there is much
to learn from the past, we take a strong historical focus, extracting frequently from the
historical records some perspectives and lessons that have valid application in today's
Regrettably, the enemies of
freedom (a.k.a. the Radical Left), who now dominate not only the entertainment industry,
the mass media, and the leadership of the Democratic Party but also much of Academia, are
methodically engaged in rewriting history to further their political agendas. Whenever
this occurs, it is our mission to set the record straight and preserve the integrity of
the historical record.
We are nonpartisan in the
sense that we put right principles ahead of party ideology.
But that said, we support vigorously any political party whose
ideology is soundly rooted in right
principles. We try to analyze every issue on its own merit and measure programs
and proposals not against a party platform or a special interest but against right
principles. We endeavor to judge politicians, candidates or public figures not by
their labels or affiliations but by their record, their character, their integrity, and
their commitment to right principles.
We strive to be factual and
honest in our reporting, but make no claim to so-called "objectivity" if to be
objective is defined as to be neutral on an issue. One might say that we are strongly
biased in favor of what is true and what is right. Nor do we hesitate to take a strong
stand against evil.
We are, for example,
unalterably opposed to tyranny and political oppression, by whatever name. We abhor racial
bigotry of all forms and in all directions and we believe that hate mongering is
reprehensible. We denounce any disregard of human rights, and we deplore human suffering.
We take a strong and yet
balanced posture on environmental issues, affirming that the
irreplaceable treasures of
the natural world can and must be protected, that any economic model which does not factor
in environmental costs is flawed, and that sustainability is a critical objective. But
that objective, we firmly believe, must be achieved through sound policies rooted in solid
science, not pursued with blind fanaticism and with callous disregard for the human costs.
Tragically, much of what
passes for "environmental activism" today has as its true underlying agenda not
the saving of the planet but the defeat of democratic institutions and the
destruction of free market economies. It is our task to expose such politically motivated
activism for the insidious fraudulence it is.
We decry social policies and
government programs that reward indolence while punishing diligence and industriousness,
but we favor a compassionate approach to assisting those who are incapable of providing
for their own needs.
It is our mission to argue
passionately and persuasively in favor of what is good and right, ennobling and uplifting,
and to expose articulately and oppose vehemently the wrong, the unjust, the degrading, the
self-serving, the deceitful, the corrupt, the exploitive, the
tyrannical, the iniquitous,
